Sigh of Relief!

Mar 16, 2011 | Family Life | 4 comments

Tsunami day came & went.
I thought for sure it was going to REALLY happen this time, since we had a “practice” day LAST year…almost 1 year & 2 weeks to the day.

8:30pm: I ran without my phone & when I came home, Jase was in FULL loading mode…getting everything we needed to the cars.

I was frantic, I didn’t know where to start, I seriously FELT like a chicken with its head cut off.

After a prayer to help calm my nerves, we got to work. Raising important things up HIGH so they could be safe from water damage. Loading extra clothes into duffle bags, packing as much FOOD as we can.

3/10/11: 11pm, 4 hours till impact: loading sleepy children into the car & trying not to scare them of the events that MIGHT happen soon. We drove 20 minutes to high ground to a friends house, where they offered a bed & couches to sleep on.

3/11/11: 1 AM: Less Stressed, kids watched movies, while adults watched the HORROR that was happening to Japan. Thousands. We all finally fell asleep around 3AM.

Arriving HOME the next day till NOW (Wednesday) I am continuing going through our 72 hour kits; rotating, updating & figuring out…HOW IN THE HECK is a 3-7 year old supposed to carry that bag?

BUT a sigh of relief that it was YET another practice day & NOT the REAL THING.

I'm so glad it didn't affect Hawaii much and that you guys are okay. I was worried it would be the real deal this time, too. And after seeing the destruction in Japan on the news, even a couple of miles inland, I was VERY relieved all was well with you. Hoping you won't have to have a third time!

Oh my Goodness! What a crazy time just for practice….BUT at least that's all it was. Whew! I'm so glad that you had friends in higher ground to stay with instead of just being outside or somewhere else.
So happy everything was ok for Hawaii and that you guys are safe!

So glad it was another "practice", but still I can't imagine going through even that. I think I would have been freaking out! So glad you are all OK. 🙂 XOXO
