So after reading a friends blog about a unexpected age comment I got to thinking about age. When I was in highschool I looked 12, when I was getting married I looked 16, and when I had my first couple of children I looked Newly Married…so now that I’m 29 1/4 with 5 kids how old do I look?
I thought I would always look younger than my REAL age. I see pictures of friends & people I know and I wonder if they are trying or not, but they seem to look younger than how old they are. So I think to myself: I need to look younger.
Society has put this image in our head that you should look 30 when you are 50, or look 19 when you’re turning 30, or look 15 when you are really 25. REALLY is that what we, as a society, want? What happened to gaining wisdom with age? What happened to respecting our elders? I guess I missed that Era!
Do I really want to look younger….of course. But Do I want to look significantly younger…NO. I don’t want to look younger to get hit on by college boys. I don’t want to look younger to hide the fact that I’ve had 5 children. I don’t want to look younger to run away from those years of experience that gave me my scars, wrinkles & battle wounds.
I’m glad to be me. I’m glad to be in THIS time of my life. I’m glad to be married (and NOT dating anymore) to a wonderful husband. I’m glad I have 5 amazing children that may cause many gray hairs to come. I’m Glad. So I don’t want to look 15, 19, 21, or even 25, I want to look 29.
I want to look like the BEST me!
i want to look like the best me, too.

Rachee you are the best you! (and sorry, but when people here in Russia see your photo they think you are 19) What matters is your heart and you have one of the best!
I hate to break it to ya, but you are still lookin the same as you did in high school! And do you really have some gray hairs coming? Cause I do and it scares the crap out of me!
I just want people to look at me and say "she takes care of herself" (which I know doesn't happen right now… it's a goal!) So no matter what age I am, I look "good" or "healthy" for that age. Here's to that.
I am commenting on your blog- hooray!!!! Anyway, you look good and youthful and wise all at the same time. Love that.
Screw society! I want to look like I've LIVED! Gray hair and all.
PS, you look like you're 18, I doubt that will ever change. 🙂
