Prayers

Oct 6, 2011 | Family Life | 3 comments

Do your kids fight over WHO gets to say the family prayer? OR dinner prayer? Well it happens at our house all the time & we work it out EVERYDAY.

And as kids learn how to pray, they’re prayers are often repeated phrases of what they hear most often….but these last couple of days, the prayers said in our home have been more interesting than ever.

For Dinner Prayer (after a brief explanation that I will be taking my pregnant friend to dinner because she’s having a baby….a prayer went like this..)
“Please bless the food. Please Bless Aunty Echo to have a GOOD baby.”
Well wouldn’t you know it, that we went to take our friend out for her last hurrah and she goes into labor.

For Lunch Prayer, caring child says:
“Please bless to have a good lunch. Please bless Thy Spirit to be with us into bedtime and all night.  Please bless Heavenly Father to have a good time in heaven and enjoy his time there.”

I love original, thoughtful prayers from my kids.

We play Jan-Ken-Po to decide who says the dinner prayer. Winner prays. Bedtime prayers rotate.
