Surprise DISNEYLAND! Day 1 – First half

Jan 6, 2014 | Travel, USA | 0 comments

We had to change hotels to get a bit closer to the Big D. The kids had no idea, where we were going….but as we got closer to the hotel by disneyland we would see more and more buses with disney characters all over it. The kids would call out all the wonderful things they were seeing, while Jase and I were trying to distract them from knowing how close we were to Disneyland. We even had to drive passed the entrance to Disneyland….and we were pointing out the window in the opposite direction at the IHOP. It was quite the night, Jase and I were dying with excitement and couldn’t wait to see the kids faces when they found out.
We got up in the morning and told the kids we were walking over the freeway ramp, as we came over the kids could see the back of some of the rides. Klai pointed out that she could see It’s a Small World, which is so crazy because its been 4 years since she’s been here.
And right when walking in, we saw another ALOHA shirt friend. Right before going into the gate, we also met up with Grandpa & Grandma. With a bit of convincing they decided to take the drive, they helped out with getting us a bit cheaper tickets with their military discount and inturn we helped them out with the hotel situation. A good trade & we got to spend time with them on vacation!
It really is a magical place and so fun meeting great friends. Goofy was the first to greet us, and the kids were ready with their pens & autograph books.
No one was more excited to see Mini Mouse than Evee! I loved seeing everyone still in their Christmas outfits.
The boys ran off the Astro Blasters, while the girls & I got in line at the Fantasy Faire to meet the princesses. We were super lucky to not wait longer than 2 minutes and we walked into to meet the classics.
The girls all loved seeing them, got their autographs & had the biggest smiles on their faces. Cora was a bit shy and didn’t want to be alone with them, but having Evee with her was good.
The boys enjoyed their men time on Astro Blasters…I’m sure they went on a few times while they waited for us.
On our way from Fantasy Faire to meet up with the boys, we noticed that Pixie Hollow’s line was short. We got in that and met Tinkerbell & Silvermist. This is the first time meeting Silvermist.
We then met up with Dad at AstroBlasters & hunted down the Evil Emperor Zurg!
I think Evee was a bit unsure about what she was doing!
After defeating Zurg it was the perfect time to get in line for Jedi Training! We had never done this before & decided to make this our #1 priority. The Jedis came out and searched for great children that might make good Jedis. Our kids were mesmerized. They went about picking kids who could listen & seemed excited, all got picked but Wyatt…until they said 5 yr olds could do it. So Wyatt & I began to jump and hollar that he was 5 and REALLY wanted to do it. He was one of the last to be picked to come up….but he made it!
They gave them robes & of course light sabers. Wyatt got to go on stage with the head Jedi trainer. They taught them how to activate their sabers and how to maneuver them.
Then Darth Vader emerged with Darth Mal & they wanted a FIGHT!
Wyatt got to fight Darth Vader, so exciting.  Shae fought him as well.
The girls fought Darth Mal, I’m sure they won.

Vader left in defeat.
Those activities sure started the day off right! We stopped off at King Arthur’s Carousel for Evee’s favorite ride.
Her excitement is why we do these things. It’s so magical to her & that makes us all happy.

While the big kids went on Splash Mountain, I took Wyatt, Evee & Cora to visit some friends at Pooh’s Corner! Honey pooh is our favorite, but it was awesome to Meet Eyeore for the first time & to see Tigger again. Too bad Cora was passed out from all this excitement.

Of course Jase is terrified of Splash Mtn…..and maybe Wyatt too.
After Dad took them, he got the rider switch pass, so I took the boys back on again to go with me. I love these faces.
We had a great morning, but decided to head over to California Adventure. On our way back to the main gate we saw MY favorite people: Mary Poppins & Bert! I love them!
Even though Christmas has passed, we can’t resist taking the best Christmas Tree ever picture…..although a few were asleep!
And sometimes to get a good shot with some character friends, You have to walk with them.
Here’s Donald duck:
The mouse that makes it all worth while, Mickey!
Pluto is a funny one too. Well that was quite a fun filled morning. We made our way out and into California Adventure…..that’s for the next post!
