Day 3 & 4 of PROJECT RUN AWAY TO HAWAII (pt. 2)
Mar 8, 2014 | Family Life |

Some of the classic things you see in Hawaii are Chickens….they are EVERYWHERE. Yes this is true! Many people raise backyard chickens but more so, there are TONS of wild chickens…everywhere. This lovely morning we went to Castles Beach to hit the waves again. It was rainy, but still nice and warm.
When I was a little girl and would come back to Hawaii to visit, Grandma would tell us stories about the Chinaman that slept under the ocean and his hat sat on top. Well there it is Chinaman’s hat, you can even buy a book that tells the story.
Nothing says normal life than the Hyde’s backyard. Filled with over 10 chickens and this one is REALLY FAT! She lays the largest eggs too. But this classic wintery Hawaii day is full of rain, puddles and muddy feet everywhere.
We saw a glimpse of this place coming in from the airport, but now as we go to town again we had to stop and take a GOOD picture of Indian Island! Right before getting to Kahana Bay you pass this tiny briday. The girls, when they were in Laie Elementary, would tell stories of how the Indians lived on that island and when the tide would be high the island disapears and the indians run into the jungle brush. What fun imaginations!
Although this is not uncommon to see, it is uncommon for both of us to be at costco together….this time was for Jase working and training and me shopping and sleeping in the lounging chairs. Costco is really one of the best places and busiest places to shop in Hawaii…prices are great there.
I’m not quite sure what this beach is called, but it is always beautiful here, no matter if the whole island is raining, this beach is always pretty! Its in Kaaawa somewhere.
Kualoa Ranch, always has the best views, that’s beauty!
Friday afternoon I enjoyed ONO YO….the best Fro-Yo on the island….and even some parts of the mainland!
This was the Almond Joy mix……Nutella chocolate, coconut, mac nuts & chocolate syrup! YES YUMMY!
As you Pass Gunstock Ranch on the Ocean side is the Parking Lot to Castles Beach. A FABULOUS family beach, no very rocky, great boogie boarding waves & great for BBQ’s and picnics…and of course learning to Surf!
(I apologize for the car window pic)
Old Parking lot of Castles Beach
New Parking Entrance to Castles Beach
Laie’s cute local Foodland, home to the best (my opinion) Poke’ on the North Shore. I know that Kahuku Superette is viewed highly as the BEST EVER, but it was a bit too spicey for me. And I liked the prices at Foodland much better!
Of course one of the most important stops is visiting with friends. As Jase went surfing with Chris, I got to visit with Taylor and her beautiful new baby Rhette….LOVE THE NAME!
