I want to share with you what a typical day is like for me as a homeschool mom/youtuber. I am sure some of you are homeschooling and may also be working mom from home. One thing that has helped me is finding a balance between my different roles. So I am going to share a day in my life as a youtube and homeschool mom.
My morning started with rushing out the door with the kids and getting Rykel to her seminary class. Next we went to the library and then picked Rykel back up. At the gas station I took the opportunity to teach Rykel how to pump gas. With homeschool you really can teach anywhere you go. I like to take these opportunities to teach my children simple things like filling up your car.Â
Trip to the Library
I like to take my kids to the library so they can pick out the books they want to read and do some school there. While the kids did their thing I got some of my youtube work done. Some of the work I can do away from home with my phone and that is what I did today. I checked emails and made some phone calls while my kids did their school work.
Grocery Delivery!Â
Our next stop was getting back home before my Costco delivery came. Last night I ordered my groceries online to have them delivered today because I knew I wouldn’t have time to pick them up. This is especially great for those days that are already packed with errands and things to get done. Once we got home the kids worked on their school a little more and we put our groceries away.Â
Lunch time
Because today is Wednesday, it is Shae’s day to make lunch. Something unique that we like to do is have a day of the week for each person. On that day they cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. During our weekly meal planning the kids get to plan what food they will cook on their day. If they need help they can ask. This is a great way to teach the kids how to cook and it takes some of the stress off me. Here are also so more recipe ideas.
Balancing my work and helping Kids
It is a hard balance between helping some of the kids with their school work and doing my youtube work. But, I try to help my kids while I work, so that later in the day we can do other activities. The kids got their chores done and all their school work. We give our kids chores every day. They take care of the dogs, help clean the house and as I already mentioned help with the cooking. It is really a team effort at our house, and without the help of my kids I don’t know how I would juggle it all. If you want to see more of what our homeschooling day looks like check out this post.
Kids Free Time
After chores are all done we do privileges. The kids can earn a privilege like playing a game on the computer, video games and things like that. But tonight I have something more special for those kids who earned it. Those kids who get all the stuff done on time will get to have a movie night with me tonight. But before any evening plans we have dinner.Â
Shae made dinner, then went to his youth activity Wyatt and Rykel. I get to eat dinner with Evee and Cora. We do something fun sometimes when it is just us. So today the kids wanted to watch our old youtube videos on the ohana adventure. So we did that while eating dinner. In our family we love watching our old videos.Â
This is a Typical Day
It is getting to the end of our day and this is what we do. We run errands, do school, I work, we have activities, some days I film. On our film days it is even crazier! Youtube is seriously the hardest job I have ever had. I hope you enjoyed a day in the life of a mom, business owner, youtuber.Â
