Looking to get new holiday decor but not wanting to pay half your Christmas budget for it? Well, I’ve got some ideas for you! In this post, I’ll share some ways you can save on holiday decor big time! Let’s dive in!
Purchase As Close to the Holiday As Possible
The goal here is to purchase holiday decorations as close to the holiday as possible if you plan to buy them BEFORE the holiday. The closer to the holiday you buy, the more percentage off of the price you’ll get. Last year I waited to buy some decor in December and it was 50 percent to 75 percent off!
Save on Holiday Decor AFTER the Holiday
This can be tricky because by January there may not be any decorations left. However, if you look around, you may find that some stores have plenty of holiday decor stock left and have discounted brand new decorations up to 90 percent off! Yes, thank you. I’ll take that one, and that one, and that one.
Buy a Year in Advance
This tip goes with the tip to save and purchase AFTER the holiday. If you’re not in a rush and are willing to wait a year, you can buy deeply discounted holiday decor items after the holidays and just wait to use it the next time around.
Make Your Own Holiday Decor
Last but not least, making your own holiday decor can be fun and budget-friendly. This can be an opportunity to get creative and give yourself some cheap art therapy. I tend to appreciate and value the handmade, made-with-love items that have sentimental value over store-bought items anyway. Some simple holiday DIY decor might include
- holiday craft paper banner like this one from Creations by Kara
- or this perfect burlap heart ornament from the Curated Interior
