How to Use Thanksgiving Leftovers

Nov 26, 2020 | Celebrate, Thanksgiving | 0 comments

I love a good Thanksgiving feast. The juicy turkey smothered in gravy. The mouthwatering sides. It’s all great. But most of all, I love the Thanksgiving leftovers. Thanksgiving leftovers are my favorite because you can cook a big meal once and have it feed you for days. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to use Thanksgiving leftovers.

One of my biggest tips when it comes to Thanksgiving leftovers is to freeze your turkey. This allows you to use it for an easy meal at a later date. Some of the recipes I share below will use the turkey leftovers you froze.

1. Turkey Sandwiches

This is such an easy and delicious way to use thanksgiving leftovers. Slap that turkey in between two slices of bread and put in any other fillings you’d like. Kick it up a notch by grilling it!

2. Casseroles

Casseroles are great because you can literally use all parts of your Thanksgiving feast and turn it into another meal. This Thanksgiving Leftover Casserole from Favorite Family Recipes looks delicious.

3. Shepherd’s Pie

Shepherd’s pie is a great way to use up some of that leftover mashed potato. Stick some turkey meat underneath with maybe some stuffing and whatever else sounds good to you and voila! And new meal!

4. Soups

Soups are amazing this time of year. Use the leftover turkey in your favorite soup recipe!

5. Substitute turkey in place of chicken in recipes

Find your favorite recipe that uses chicken. Then substitute the chicken with turkey. It taste just as good and the best part is your meat will already be cooked!

6. Turn your pumpkin into cookies

Don’t throw away perfectly good pumpkins after Thanksgiving this year. Use them up in other recipes such as this pumpkin cookie recipe that I make using real pumpkins.

7. Turkey Pot Pie

Be sure to make some extra pie crust this year so you can use it when you use your Thanksgiving leftovers for this delicious looking turkey pot pie from Foodess.

8. Turkey and Wild rice Soup

This turkey and wild rice soup from Lively Table looks easy to make and delicious at the same time. This is definitely a recipe I look forward to trying with this year’s leftovers.

I can’t wait to hear what you guys make with your Thanksgiving leftovers! Let me know in the comments which recipe you want to try. Also let me know if you have a favorite recipe that you love for using up Thanksgiving leftovers.
