Every back-to-school time is exciting at our home (mostly because this is my favorite time of the year). This year we are going to help an extended family member out, who needs a place to stay. There is not a lot of extra space in our home, so we are going to transform our tiny home into an amazing fun, bright college dorm. Our older kids; Klailea and Rykel, are a bit jealous of this remodel!
The tiny home has a Master Bedroom, bunk area, bathroom, loft, kitchen & living room. We teamed up with home depot and found their back-to-class section that covered almost all of the essentials we needed for this makeover.
Fun tip: If you order from homedepot.com you get free deliveries on orders over $45. And we definitely spent more than $45!
Living Room
Small space that doubles as dining area as well, we looked for multipurpose items that a college student could use.

LIVING ROOM BEFORE

LIVING ROOM BEFORE
What we added…
- bookshelf
- dresser (under the TV)
- compact fridge (we added an extra fridge because the fridge in our tiny home is small)
- artificial Plants
- Decorative Pillows for Couch
- Livingroom rug
- Puffa

Kitchen Updated For College Living
The kitchen was pretty bare so we added a lot of kitchen necessities to make it more like a college dorm room.

KITCHEN BEFORE
Added in the makeover:
- Hand mixer
- Waffle Maker
- Electric smokeless grill
- Dishes
- Pots/Pans
- Glasses

KITCHEN AFTER
Master Bedroom into Dorm Room
The old master space was a little drab and needed some fun flare!

BEDROOM BEFORE
What we changed for a Dorm Room
- Bedspread
- Decorative Pillows
- Sheets
- Painting for the Wall

BEDROOM AFTER
Hallway/Bunk Area & Loft
We removed the bottom bunk bed to make more room for storage. This is a must for any college living space (especially if it’s an already tiny home!)
- Portable shelving
- Tiedye Bedspread
Bathroom
- Shower Curtain
- Rug
- Bamboo Bathroom Soap Dispenser
As you can tell from the before and after photos, the tiny home looks amazing with some added essentials and pizzazz. This tiny home is the perfect college dorm. We are so happy with how it turned out. I am sure our new guest will love it too!

We try to teach our kids to serve other people whenever we can. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to teach by example to serve others. I am so excited to be able to help someone else out by opening our tiny home.
