A Normal Day as a YOUTUBE FAMILY!

Sep 1, 2021 | Family Life | 1 comment

I wanted to do something a little different and take you guys behind the scenes to show you what a normal workday looks like while being part of The Ohana Adventure family. Sometimes things don’t go always as planned, some days we need to relax, most days are hectic, but it is always sure to be an adventure!

Getting An Early Start

While we do travel a lot, we also have a lot of workdays at home. When we are home I like to start my days with a workout. I’ve been trying to change my habits and become a morning person, I’ve been going to bed earlier so that I can wake up earlier to have some personal time. I like to use this time when all the kids are asleep to get my day started, get my heart rate up, and feel energized after some form of working out. Whether it’s pilates, yoga, cycling, or any other form of conditioning, this is how I love starting my day.

Still quite early in the morning, after I have finished my workout, then I will go wake up whoever day it is to cook, and I will help them make breakfast. On this particular day, it was Cara’s day to cook breakfast. Her favorite thing to make for breakfast is french toast. It only takes a couple of ingredients: eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla. Then you just dip the bread into the mixture and throw it onto the griddle. Once breakfast is ready the whole family sits around the table. As we eat we like to discuss and plan out what all of our days will entail.

School & Lunch

After breakfast, it is school time. This is when I become the teacher for the day. I help quiz Wyatt on geography, I help Cora with her reading and writing, I help Evee with her math, and whatever subjects the kids need help in. The other kids are pretty good about being independent, staying focused, and getting their school work done on their own.

Most of the kid’s schoolwork gets finished around lunchtime. Since Cora was the chef of the day, she also prepared lunch for the family. That day we had plenty of leftovers in the fridge, so Cora pulled them out and let the family dish up whatever they were in the mood for. I snagged the curry of course. It’s definitely beneficial when the kids finish their school before lunch, or directly after because if we are filming a family video that is when we prefer to do it. It’s easier to do it in the early afternoon while everyone is still at home before anybody has other obligations or plans.

Transition Into Business Mom

While the kids finish cleaning up lunch, or doing school work, or getting ready to film, Jase and I will have a little powwow to discuss what the next couple of weeks of filming, traveling, and planning will look like. This is when I transition into business mom. I like to have a tangible copy of what we plan, so I always have my Erin Condren planner on deck. Even though we just got home from Africa, we have another huge trip planned, so keep your eye out for more travel and adventure videos coming soon. Once everyone is finished making sure they look presentable then, we will film. Whether the kids are filming for their channels such as The Ohana Boys, Toy Library, Rykel’s personal channel, or if it’s a group effort to all film for The Ohana Adventure channel, this is usually the time of day where it will get done. On this day we filmed a video about Klai, the catch is…Klai wasn’t there to participate. It was a really fun video to film, but somedays filming is draining and wears me out. That is a sure sign that it is time to transition into fun mom.

Finish With Fun

After everyone has worked hard to finish their school, chores, and filming then it is time to relax and have fun. After I check off the kid’s chores and school then they are free to spend time with friends or swim or just take time to do whatever they would like. Somedays when we have long days of filming, it can be pretty exhausting, so on days like that, I will choose to order in instead of cooking dinner.

The rest of our evening is not as eventful as the rest of our day. We usually will play some card games or have a family movie night. After that, it is time for bed so that I can get an early start on the next day. While it can be stressful to be a business, teacher, and regular mom, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being able to spend so much time with my family is the biggest blessing, and I’m so thankful that I have the opportunity to do that! I hope you like this little sneak peek into what our everyday life consists of.
