Over the years I’ve been trying to Focus on the reason of the Season and to us that is Jesus Christ. I wanted to share with you our 3 favorite ways to Bring Christ into the Christmas Season. We love doing little activities or simple acts of kindness each day leading up to Christmas. And if you have more ideas, please share, I’d love to learn from you!
Light The WorldÂ
Light the World has so many great ideas on how you can fill your December with the Spirit of Christ and giving. We love doing the daily prompts suggested on the Come Unto Christ instagram page. Follow their page to get daily ideas for you or your family. You can also download the light the world service calendar for service ideas everyday until December 25th.
Scripture Advent Calendars
Advent calendars are a fun way to get the kids involved. Have them reveal the daily Scripture to read each day on the advent calendar. There are so many different free advent calendars to choose from; I’m sure you will find one that fits for your family.
- Scripture Advent Calendar – banner style
- Scripture Advent Calendar – number tags
- Christmas Scripture Advent Countdown
- Christmas Advent Bible verse cards
The Giving Manger
The giving manger is a tradition we started doing years ago. I have heard it called a few things but the idea is the same. We have a small manger where you place a small piece of straw each time you do an act of kindness. As the days get closer to Christmas the manger becomes more full with a soft bed where Jesus will rest when he is born. It is a reminder each day to center our lives on Christ and remember to be kind and loving like he is.
This is a great gift idea! You can find them on amazon and other places I’m sure!
*Bonus – Attend a Live Nativity Performance
We love going participating in local Nativity performances when we have the opportunity. And the years we don’t we like to watch the Nativity performance. In most city’s you can find some place that is putting on this performance and it’s usually free. Look for live Nativity performances and other Christmas performances that will help you feel your hearts with Christ this Christmas.
