When we travel I prefer warm and tropical, we have loved traveling to many tropical places like Hawaii, Barbados, Florida, French Riviera, Mexico and places I can’t remember. We have learned that some places the kids LOVED more and other places the adults loved more…but there are some places that the WHOLE FAMILY really enjoyed! Making the memories is what traveling is all about and with this surprise you can’t go wrong!

If you are looking for a Tropical Vacation there are many options to choose from; Tahiti, Caribbean, South America, Mexico, Hawaii & more. For the BEST Tropical Vacation for the whole family keep these pointers in mind: Cost of Flight & Accommodations, Activities all ages can enjoy & FOOD! IF you combine those tips with the CLASSIC “3 tips to the perfect vacation"; History, Adventure & Relaxation, YOU WILL ALWAYS WIN!

Let’s start with COST of flight & Accommodations; Flights will always vary with where your first location starts. THE BEST sites to look on for flights are; POMELO TRAVEL, HOPPER, GOOGLE FLIGHTS & more. Some sites are a subscription but they amazing flight deals that come to you daily, some sites you need to frequent to check and see what the cost is for the time you’re hoping to travel. THE time of the YEAR is super important…I have found that traveling in Jan - Mar can be some of the cheapest times to travel to TROPICAL locations.

We have found FLIGHTS from California to Hawaii under $300 round trip, you can even find inland flights from Texas, Utah, Idaho to HAWAII for under $400. Looking to fly Jan - Mar are great times to travel!

Now Accommodations can get tricky depending upon size of your family. Airbnb or Vrbo can be the BEST options for large families because you can rent a car and stay OUT of the expensive zones. WE have stayed in Airbnbs in Paris, Italy, Switzerland, Barbados, Florida, Hawaii, and many other US states. Staying in Hawaii is fantastic to help you cut down on daily cost, travel from location to location to explore and enjoy your vacation at your own pace!

The Key to surprising the kids once you’ve booked the trip is all in the details. Contact the teachers, gather any homework that is needed, and don’t forget to contact their after school curricular activities letting them know you’ll be gone. Gather and Pack while kids are in school or gone - this is what gets me most excited…because when you’ve packed it makes it real!

Once the adventure starts & you are on location, make sure you have lined up your adventures. Activities for the WHOLE family are easy when it comes to TROPICAL vacations. Remember the 3 TIPS to the perfect vacation, it needs; History, Exciting Adventure & Relaxation.

We have found epic historical tours all around - Learning something new makes the trip even more memorable. You can visit the Mayan Ruins in Mexico, Polynesian cultural center, Museums & Volcanos in Hawaii, Temples in India, Machu Picchu in Peru, etc.

Exciting Adventure & Relaxation can be found in so many places in the tropics. Beaches are the best family activity for everyone for Relaxation; Surfing, building sand castles, floating, boogie boarding, shell searching or snorkeling. My family loves to explore more than just the beach, we look for; Hikes, ATV adventures through the Jungle, Ropes courses and Zip-lines to enjoy the beauty!

The island of Oahu in Hawaii has all you need; the best beaches are on the North Shore, hiking through tropical forests, ATV rides at Kualoa Ranch, Zip-lines at Gunstock Ranch, learn to surf at all the beaches, and great snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. Hawaii is great for all these adventures because the island is fairly small and so traveling from place to place doesn’t take hours as other places might. You can pack in lots of adventure in a day. We like to do planned activities till early afternoon, then we like to relax the rest of the day. We also leave time for doing some tourist shopping if thats something your family enjoys. In Hawaii go to the Swap Meet Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays…best deals and you can haggle a great price for your souvenir.

LAST of all FOOD….FOOD is very important when it comes to your vacation. Are you a foodie? Think about doing a Food tour, or asking the locals for all the BEST restaurants, food trucks & of course treats you’ve got to try. We love going to Mexico for the food, its one of my favorites and the kids always love tacos, quesadillas and fish. Hawaii is a win win for everyone because you can get the best seafood dishes around as well as incredible organic burgers with the flare of the tropics…and lets not forget the amazing desserts & fruits that just taste better at sea level. If you want authentic Luaus…we’ve been to Tahiti & Fiji & Hawaii…and the Polynesian Cultural Center is hands down the best Luau in all the tropics!

I love all things food & I can’t wait to try authentic Indian food in India, as well as Local grinds in Peru. What is your favorite food from places you have traveled?

If you are considering a TROPICAL VACATION and want it to be memorable for the WHOLE FAMILY be sure to follow these simple tips: History, Exciting Adventure & Relaxation. Don’t get overwhelmed when planning this Epic Surprise, you can do it; keep watching those flights..they will drop, rent a car & PLAN to hit those 3 tips for adventure & of course squeeze in all the local grinds you can. Your family will talk about this trip for YEARS!

We want to hear what you planned and where you went, if you want even more local tips on Hawaii, keep following for all the local insider tips..we will be sharing that soon!
